Blurred Vision

She’d already had far too much to drink, when the man at the bar gave her a wink.
She looked at him with vision blurred, thought the hat on his head rather absurd.
He ran his fingers over her hand, rubbed gently, where she used to wear a band.
Whispered something into her ear, the music was loud, she couldn’t quite hear.
He talked a bit more, babbled on and on. She said to him, “I love this song”
He pulled her close, asking for a dance. She thought to herself, hell take a chance.
When he leaned in for a kiss, she found herself longing for the one she continued to miss.
Still not yet ready to fully explore, she quickly made her way to the door.
Calling a cab to drive her home. Thinking to herself, another night of sleeping alone.
